Professor Julian May
Based at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), Professor Julian May is the director of the CoE-FS, a co-principal investigator of the centre’s “Governance and Policy” programme, and holds the UNESCO Chair in African Food Systems. His current research focuses on food security, childhood deprivation and malnutrition.
Dr Marc Wegerif
Dr Marc Wegerif is a co-principal investigator of the CoE-FS’s “Governance and Policy” programme, and leads the centre’s project on Urban Food Systems. He also serves on the CoE-FS’s Management Committee. Dr Wegerif is based at CoE-FS co-host institution, the University of Pretoria, where he is a Senior Lecturer and Development Studies Programme Coordinator, doing research on food systems and land rights.
Professor Bruno Losch
Professor Bruno Losch is the former co-principal investigator of the CoE-FS’s “Governance and Policy” programme. He was lead political economist at the French Agricultural Research and International Cooperation Organization (CIRAD). His research focuses on rural studies, family agriculture, public policies, and the political economy of development.
Jani Truter
Jani Truter is a PhD candidate with the International Centre of Urbanism (KU Leuven) and the CoE-FS (University of the Western Cape).
Professor Scott Drimie
Professor Scott Drimie is the Director of the Southern Africa Food Lab, and a senior researcher at the Center for Complex Systems in Transition at Stellenbosch University.
Keshia Hoaeane
Keshia Hoaeane is a PhD candidate with the CoE-FS (University of the Western Cape).
Nolutando Didiza
Nolutando Didiza is a master’s student with the CoE-FS and Institute for Social Development (University of the Western Cape).
Dr Tsega Tefera
Dr Tsega Tefera is a postdoctoral research fellow with the CoE-FS (University of the Western Cape).
Makhanana Malungane
Makhanana Malungane is a CoE-FS grantee and master’s graduate (University of Pretoria).
Tshiamo Setuke
Tshiamo Setuke is a PhD candidate with the CoE-FS (University of Pretoria).
