Professor Lise Korsten

An expert in food safety and regulatory control, Professor Lise Korsten developed South Africa’s biological control agent for fruit and established a research group in sanitary and phytosanitary aspects of international trade. She is a chief editor of Crop protection and is chairing the International Society for Plant Pathology Task Force on Global Food Security. Her research focuses on complementary fields of postharvest technology and food safety as related to international trade in fresh produce requirements, and includes aspects related to postharvest pathology and food safety in the fresh produce supply chain. Prof Korsten is also professor in the Department of Plant Sciences, section Plant Pathology in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at UP.
